There are many swingset parts and accessories that can be added to a basic swing set. The main part of a swing set is the frame, which can be metal, plastic or wood.

Brackets, bolts and swing hangers are needed to secure the necessary attachments. A concrete base to securely anchor the frame to the ground is also a necessity. Some swing sets have trapeze bars and gymnastic rings as an added attraction for the children.

There are different types of swings that can be used:
~ Bucket swings for toddlers – These include seat belts.
~ Disc swings
~ Tire swings – these require a swivel.
~ Rounded seats and straight seats

Swingset parts also include slides, tree houses, forts or castles, ladders, climbing bars, platforms and other toys such as periscopes, telescopes, and steering wheels. The parts for a swing set can be purchased separately at a local hardware store. Other safety parts that should be included in a swing set are handrails and plastic caps are needed to cover any protruding hardware. All swings require auger anchors. Swing sets also include extension pieces intended to make the set higher as the children get older.
